Weekly Blog - Sum 2/Week 4

It's the end of a very, very, very hot week in school! Read on for more details of all of the exciting things we have been up to this week.
Firstly, we would like to say how proud we are of all pupils for this week and how they have coped with the heatwave. School has been hot but we've done lots of exciting things to keep hydrated and cool, including lots of trips to our outdoor classroom, ice lollies in class and frozen face wipes which have been a big hit!
Looking ahead to next week, the temperature will drop to more typical levels meaning we return to our usual summer uniform offer, with PE clothes being worn only on PE days. Thank you to parents/carers for all of your support this week, including kind offers of ice lollies for children and for being so supportive of staff who have worked tirelessly to keep children as cool as possible.
A big well done also to everyone who has done extracurricular activities this week. Year 1 had a fantastic time today in their Florence Nightingale drama workshop. We loved seeing our Y5/6 dance group perform at The Atkinson on Wednesday night for the Wally Cain Dance Festival 2026, they were amazing! Our Year 1 pupils also loved their trip to the library on Tuesday. In addition to this, Year 3 had a fantastic trip into Ainsdale as part of their geography fieldwork. Finally, our KS2 pupils had a brilliant time at golf on Tuesday. What an amazing week!
We are also really excited that our trim trail has now been installed. On Monday, all classes will be taken onto the equipment and given the chance to explore it before we open it fully for use. There is a maximum of 2 pupils allowed on each section of the equipment at any one time and pupils are not allowed to go over the top of the equipment (such as climbing over the top of the climbing wall). Pupils will be shown how to use the equipment safely and we would ask this safe use continues for any children accessing the trim trail before or after school under parental supervision.
Coming Up

Next week features two key events. Our School Production on Thursday which is Madagascar Jr. We hope to see lots of you there with tickets on sale on Arbor now! On Friday, children can wear their own clothes to school in exchange for a donation to the Summer Fair. Early Years/KS1 children should bring in a chocolate item, whilst KS2 children are requested to bring in a bottle. As Y5 are on a taster day on Friday, they will be doing their own clothes day on the Thursday. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone in school on Monday. Enjoy watching back the highlights from last week!
