Weekly Blog - Aut 1/Week 6

It's the penultimate week of Autumn 1 and we have lots of plans ahead for next week! Please read this week's blog for lots of information.
Elephants, Penguins and Anti-Grativity...?!
Has your child come home and spoken about hiding an elephant in school?! Don't worry, we haven't had an animal released in school! As part of our ongoing focus on oracy throughout school, we've introduced discussion cards at lunchtime and they've prompted lots of discussions! From hiding a fully-grown elephant to all of the teachers turning into penguins, our pupils have been problem solving a whole host of fictitious events at Shoreside!
NEXT WEEK:
Monday - Photographs
On Monday, all children will be having their school photograph taken. There will also be the opportunity for siblings to have a photograph taken together. Any pupil in Pre-Nursery or Nursery who are not in on Monday but would like their photograph taken can be brought to the School Office at 9AM. Pupils in Year 5 should come to school in full school uniform and bring their PE kit to get changed into afterwards.
Tuesday (Reception), Wednesday (Year 1), Thursday (Year 2) - RWI Phonics Come and See
On each of the days above, parents/carers from the applicable class can join their child in class for the first half hour of the day and join their child in their Phonics Lesson. We are really excited to share how we teach children to read at Shoreside through our Read Write Inc Phonics scheme.
Thursday - Halloween Movie Night - ALL ENRICHMENT CLUBS CANCELLED

May we remind all parents/carers that as per our Enrichment Club Offer letter sent out in September, there are no enrichment clubs running on Friday.
Friday - Non-Uniform Day
Year 5 are raising money for their class charity and will be asking all pupils to bring in a donation in exchange for wearing their own clothes to school on Friday. More information will be shared out via ParentApp.

School Health are holding their termly attend anywhere school nurse drop-in session for primary schools on 23.10.26. Parents are welcome to attend between the hours of 09:30 and 12:30 to seek any school health support they may require from the school nurse team. We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing all pupils on Monday ready for their photographs!
