Weekly Blog - Sp 1/Week 5

Our penultimate week of the half term has drawn to a close and we've got some exciting updates in this week's blog. Read on to find out more!
Y6 Residential
Some of our Year 6 pupils have attended their residential this week at the Anderton Centre in Chorley. They took part in a number of activities and represented school magnificently!
Parliament Trip
A small group of Y6 pupils started the week with a trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament! They took part in a workshop where they debated different policies, before meeting Ainsdale's MP. They also managed to squeeze in a visit to Leicester Square on the way back to their train home. What a great day!
PROUD to be Shoreside
This week, we've been talking to our pupils about how we are PROUD to be a member of the Shoreside community. Ask your child what PROUD stands for and they may be able to tell you! There's lot more information coming out in the coming weeks and months.
Next Week
Neon Disco - Thursday 12th February
Click here to purchase a ticket for your child to attend the Neon Disco on Thursday 12th February. The PTFA have requested that parents add their child's full name and class in ‘Note to Merchant’ so they can track who has paid and entrance into the Disco.
As previously advertised in our enrichment club sign-up letter, there are no enrichment clubs on Thursday due to the disco.
Children in Reception and KS1 will bring their disco clothes in a bag which they can get changed into before the end of the school day. KS2 children will be collected at the end of the school day and should return to school for 4:30PM.

Own Clothes Day - Friday 13th February
All children from PN-Year 6 are invited to wear own clothes for Sefton's Love My Community Day. Shoreside is part of the Southport Learning Partnership where we work together with other schools on joint projects. Love My Community is a special day in the school year where we join with other local schools to raise money for a charity chosen by the children of Southport.
This year, the school council representatives from each school have chosen to support Alice's Wonderdance, Bebe's Hive and Elsie's Story.
These charities touch so many hearts in our community of Southport.
Alice’s Wonderdance supports young dancers by removing financial and social barriers, providing resources such as shoes, funding for classes, and community dance opportunities. Bebe’s Hive is centred on healing, creativity, and connection for bereaved children and their families. Elsie’s Story supports children and families through memory-making experiences, care grants, and community-led kindness.
We are asking for a donation of £1 on this day and all donations received will be split between the three charities. Thanks in advance for your support of this.
We finish school at the usual time on Friday 13th as we head into the half-term holidays.
Lightport - A special half term event
There is an incredible event taking place in Southport at the start of half term. Some of our pupils have even contributed artwork to the experience which you may spot around Lord Street and other local attractions over half term!

Finally, we would love to share this week's Positive Moments with you. We hope you enjoy watching them and see you all on Monday for our final week of this half term! PLUS, Slipper the Dog is back in school and we can't wait for all to see him again!
Have a lovely weekend.
